MFL author needed to write inspiring lessons on the Global Goals!

Author required to write lessons for Secondary MFL/ Community Languages publication

 

Leeds DEC is looking for an Author/ Consultant to write teaching materials for core Languages topics at KS3/4 with a global perspective. The author will work in conjunction with our Languages Working Group (who meet in Leeds city centre) to develop a series of lessons for Languages which incorporate Global themes and issues.

Aim:

Produce a series of engaging and inspiring differentiated lessons with clear Global Learning objectives and MFL curriculum objectives for KS3 & KS4

The author will:

Be able to travel to Leeds City Centre for Working Group meetings

Have experience of teaching the Global Goals in their own lessons and have empathy for Global Justice issues

– Consult and work with the Languages Working Group and Project Staff at Working Group meetings to identify suitable Languages Topics and agree Global Citizenship themes to be covered
– Research Global Citizenship topics and themes (including sourcing data etc)
– Produce classroom-ready Global Citizenship lessons for trialling by Working Group and other Languages teachers
– Capture and review feedback with Working Group
– Revise lessons and deliver to Leeds DEC in publishable format

 

Specification: produce 20 lessons which will:

i. Explore global themes (These will be identified collaboratively by the author, the working group and project staff)
ii. Fit to ordinary day-to-day teaching of standard KS3/4 Languages topics
iii. Be attractive to and popular with mainstream Languages teachers
iv. Introduce students to global themes and issues through the lens of Languages teaching
Profile of the author: we are looking for an author who has recent or substantial experience of teaching Languages at KS3/4 in mainstream secondary schools with students of a range of abilities. The ideal candidate will have experience of engaging and inspiring students and of systematically developing a series of lessons of progressive difficulty.

Timeframe: Between Feb and July 2019

Fee: £1800
